Academic Affairs
The Vice Provost for Academic Affairs is responsible for providing administrative oversight for campus-wise initiatives in Science and Engineering and fosters collaborations between Arts and Sciences, the Pratt School of Engineering, the Nicholas School of Environmental and Earth Sciences, and the School of Medicine. The office has the responsibility of coordinating the creation of strategic plans for the University.
The office is additionally responsible for:
- providing administrative support to the Academic Affairs committee of the Board of Trustees
- working with the Academic Programs Committee on strategic planning and programmatic development
- working with the Office of Information Technology and the Deans to develop strategies for providing infrastructure to meet needs for high performance computing
- working with faculty, department chairs and deans to spur innovative changes in the science and engineering curricula
- facilitating cross-department and cross-school faculty hiring
- developing strategies for promoting vertical integration
- serving on the Board of Directors of the Statistical and Applied Mathematical Sciences Institute (SAMSI)
- serving on the Board of Directors of Triangle Universities Center for Advanced Studies (TUCASI)
