Duke Global Health Institute Director
A major research institution, Duke University is located in Durham, North Carolina, with research and educational programs that reach across the globe. The Duke Global Health Institute (DGHI) is seeking a Director to provide visionary and strategic leadership, support and strengthen the Institute’s research and teaching programs, and continue to raise the national and global profile of DGHI. Reporting dually to the Provost and the Chancellor for Health Affairs of Duke University, the Director will provide leadership and inspiration for the institute’s vision and must be an excellent manager of people and resources, with a commitment to Duke’s culture of diversity and the multidisciplinary, collaborative culture of the Institute.
The successful candidate will have an earned doctorate degree and be a dynamic leader with a compelling vision for global health in the 21st century. Ideally, she/he will have an impressive set of accomplishments in areas related to global health and will have a track record that includes: experience in an administrative leadership role within a university or related entity, a demonstrated ability to recruit, mentor, develop and retain a diverse and top-tier diverse faculty and staff, strong financial and operational management skills, experience working in low/middle income countries, an interest in and commitment to fundraising, and experience building and maintaining productive interdisciplinary partnerships and collaborations.
