Supporting Research Continuity
This message was sent to all Duke University faculty.
Dear colleagues:
We are pleased to announce a new program to support Duke faculty and research teams whose federal grants or awards have been terminated or significantly delayed as a result of changes to federal funding policies and priorities.
The Provost’s Research Support Program will help eligible faculty (consult specific program for eligibility) sustain ongoing research programs or move to new areas of inquiry while navigating delays in funding. The program, which is designed to support research continuity, foster innovation, and strengthen competitiveness in a shifting funding landscape, offers two tracks:
- In one track, faculty with a primary appointment in a school, college, center, or institute (with the exception of those in the School of Medicine, who are eligible for its New Direction and Delayed Funding and Expanded Bridge Funding programs) can access support for research programs at Duke and, in limited situations, activities outside of Duke.
- In the second track, faculty from all schools, colleges, institutes, and centers can access funds that can be directed to international collaborators.
Faculty interested in the Provost’s Research Support Program should:
- consult the program website for specific eligibility and application requirements;
- work with your department and grants manager to determine which funding mechanism is appropriate for your situation; and
- watch for additional communication and unit-specific directions from your school, college, center, or institute leadership.
Thank you for continuing to discover and innovate at this challenging moment.
